The soundtrack for the G.I. Joe: Retaliation soundtrack was released on June 5, 2013 by Varèse Sarabande. It includes the film's score, performed by David Campbell and character songs, including a track featuring Michael Bay. It also includes the three songs from the animated series, "Return of the Heavy Weapons", "Escape from the Empire City", and "Epitaph One" and two songs by rapper Young Jeezy, "Running Man" and "Stay Down".
Reception
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film received an approval rating of 51% based on 108 reviews, with an average rating of 5.9/10. The site's critical consensus reads, "The franchise's sequel brings back plenty of pop culture shorthand to distract viewers, but the plot and the characters are nothing special." On Metacritic, the film has a score of 58 out of 100 based on 34 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews". Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of "B+" on an A+ to F scale.
Box office
G.I. Joe: Retaliation debuted in North America on June 29, 2013, alongside Evil Dead and Tammy, and in the United Kingdom on June 30, 2013, alongside The Counselor. It went on to debut in a number of major markets, grossing $57 million in its opening weekend. It ended up grossing $188.4 million worldwide against a budget of $175 million.
